We always have a perception that good hair oils and shampoos can do wonders to the hairs and can nourish the hairs with all the nutrients but the actual secret of healthy and shiny hairs is the correct nutrition that we can get from none other than the food. So, I am going to list down the 5 foods that are worst for the hairs and 5 foods that are best for the hair. If you are the one who is wandering and finding the ways to stop hair fall then this blog is for you.

5 Foods worst for the hairs:

  • Raw Eggs:  Eggs are the great for the hair but it should not be consumed raw as it creates the deficiency of biotin, the vitamin that helps in production of keratin. In egg white avidin is present that combines with biotin and interferes with the biotin intestinal absorption.
  • Junk food: Junk food are anyways bad for our health and we can relate the same for the hairs as it contains unhealthy fats and preservatives which can hinder the absorption of essential vitamins and minerals and hence we can face hair fall issues.
  • Sugar and sugary drinks:  Yes, tiny white blocks can create a lot of mess with our hairs just as it creates with our overall health. Recent studies shows that insulin resistance which is responsible for certain health issues like diabetes, obesity, hormonal imbalance etc. can also be responsible for hair loss and can also cause balding. So, from today say big no to extra sugar.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol has a negative impact on protein synthesis and our hair gets the structure from the protein known as keratin. So, drinking alcohol on regular basis can hinder the synthesis of keratin which can ultimately lead to hair loss. Alcohol contains ethanol which ultimately gets converted in the form of glucose.
  • Diet soda: There’s a next level of craze for diet soda in the market but it contains preservatives and artificial sweeteners known as aspartame which causes thinness of the hairs ultimately leading to hair fall. Thus one who is facing hair fall issue should definitely avoid diet soda.

5 foods best for the hairs:

  • Protein rich foods: Protein gives structure to the hair and hence is very useful for the hair growth and to make the hair voluminous. Protein source like eggs, fish, nuts, lentils, pulses, Greek yogurt, paneer, tofu etc. are good protein sources and thus can do wonders to our hairs.
  • Seeds: Certain seeds like chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds are the rich source of healthy fats and omega -3 which can provide shiny long and thick hairs. These seeds should be a part of our routine as we can get good health benefits from seeds.
  • Green leafy vegetables and other vegetables: Vegetables contains phytonutrients and are rich source of VIT- A, Iron, potassium, magnesium etc. which are vital for the hairs. If you have low levels of VIT-A & Iron, you have a strong reason to face hair fall issues. Thus, include Spinach, broccoli, okra and other green vegetables on regular basis.
  • Citrus fruits: The strong reason to add citrus fruits is they provide us with VIT-C, Which is required for Iron absorption. We should make a habit of adding lemon juice on our veggies and salad as it helps iron absorption. VIT-C is also a key element in the synthesis of collagen which is required for strengthening the hair follicles.
  • Black sesame seeds: Including Black sesame seeds oil or black sesame seeds regularly can reverse graying of hair and improves hair quality by providing the good scalp circulation. It also works as antioxidant, thus reducing oxidation process.
